Position Summary

Responsible and caring individual needed to mentor and provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities at their job sites, and provide job development for individuals seeking employment in the San Fernando Valley/Los Angeles County area.

Locations:
Glendale, Van Nuys, North Hollywood/Burbank.

Starting Rate $24.00/hour plus mileage and cell phone reimbursement. Bonus incentives for job placements $100‑600 (prorated).

Job Description
  • The Employment Coach is responsible for carrying out all directives from the Support Manager, Director of Services, CEO, and Board of Directors, ensuring all IRI persons served receive necessary support.
  • Provides mentorship, focusing on health, safety, and quality of life services.
  • Skilled in job development and on‑the‑job supports guided by PBIS and Instructional Support Strategies, assisting individuals and their circle of support to secure competitive integrated jobs.
  • Supports manager in gathering information to create individualized support plans (ISP) for the people served.
  • Utilizes digital tools such as Zoom, online learning platforms, and online job searching to meet individual employment goals.
  • Maintains strong and effective business relationships with employers and volunteer sites.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Two years of college or equivalent experience preferred but not required.
  • Job development and on‑the‑job support experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience supporting people with disabilities, preferably in community integrated settings.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills; proficient with computers and online platforms.
  • Positive behavior support training experience preferred.
  • Commitment to full inclusion of all persons with disabilities.
  • Commitment to integrated employment for all persons with disabilities.
  • Commitment to self‑advocacy and person‑centered planning.
  • Flexible availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
Responsibilities
  • Understand and practice IRI’s mission and person‑centered values.
  • Demonstrate respectful and dignified interaction with IRI persons served, stakeholders, and colleagues.
  • Build competence and esteem in all interactions with IRI people served.
  • Implement a normalized community integrated employment‑focused service.
  • Develop integrated work schedules.
  • Find integrated work settings and develop competitive employment placements.
  • Encourage meaningful employment‑related activities for the person served.
  • Conduct frequent job site analysis pre, during, and post‑employment.
  • Implement adaptation strategies and devices based on individual need.
  • Provide typical and specialized healthcare needs as needed.
  • Implement individual service plan goals and SMART objectives.
  • Monitor positive behavior strategy system and plans.
  • Conduct task analysis and demonstrate data‑based training decisions.
  • Complete all required documents: eRSP daily care notes, clocking in/out, maintaining personnel file.
  • Attend and complete staff development training as assigned.
  • Communicate important updates to supervisor, circle of support, and stakeholders.
  • Dress professionally and/or appropriately for tasks performed with people supported.
  • Demonstrate proper emergency strategies.
  • Report emergencies to the Support Manager as necessary.
  • Collaborate with individuals served, Lead Employment Coach, Support Manager, and circle of support to complete customized employment activities.
  • Contact prospective employers and facilitate job applications for participants.
  • Shadow and train other coaches who support specific individuals.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Support Manager, Director of Services, and CEO.
