The USC Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences is seeking a California-licensed clinical psychologist to provide outpatient mental health services to adult patients with a variety of psychiatric conditions and comorbid medical conditions at the Los Angeles General Medical Center (Los Angeles General). The chosen candidate will be based in the Adult Outpatient Psychiatric Clinic (AOPC) at Los Angeles General and will work closely with resident physicians in psychiatry to provide individual and group psychotherapy supervision;
perform psychosocial evaluations; conduct psychological, cognitive, and diagnostic assessments; provide short-term, evidence-based psychotherapies; consult with psychiatry and internal medicine physicians in the ongoing management of behavioral health issues; and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in treatment planning, monitoring, and quality assurance in patient care. The candidate will also provide mentoring and didactic lectures in their areas of expertise to psychiatry residents and students.
This is a faculty appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine of USC with responsibilities at the Los Angeles General Medical Center Adult Outpatient Psychiatric Clinic. Job duties will be distributed with approximately 85% direct patient care, 5% teaching and scholarly activities, and 10% administration.

- Reports to clinic, division, and department leadership.
- Conducts initial diagnostic evaluations, biopsychosocial assessments, and pre-surgical psychological evaluations, develops treatment plans, and provides short-term evidence-based individual and/or group psychotherapy to AOPC patients.
- Conducts psychological, cognitive, and diagnostic testing; interprets test results, and prepares brief assessment reports.
- Evaluates crisis situations and intervenes appropriately.
- Completes timely documentation and billing in accordance with clinic, department, and medical center policies.
- Maintains appropriate clinical records and complies with all relevant regulatory policies and procedures.
- Performs quality assurance monitoring, oversight, and clinical outcome evaluations for the Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic.
- Collaborates and consults with other mental health and medical providers.
- Participates in multidisciplinary case conferences and clinic meetings.
- Attends and contributes to department and division meetings, fostering clinical objectives and a consultative collegial environment.
- Participates in USC Psychiatry Department Grand Rounds.
- Provides education to psychiatry residents and students via mentoring and didactic lectures.
- May oversee staff, students, volunteers, agencies and/or resource employees.
- Participates in yearly peer review and quality improvement activities.
- Participates in annual merit review.
- Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA- or CPA-accredited program.
- Completion of an APA- or CPA-accredited internship.
- Licensed or license-eligible in California.
- Well‑developed clinical skills and experience utilizing short‑term, evidence‑based psychotherapies for treating mental health conditions.
