Position: Bovard Scholars Operations Coordinator (Resource Employee)

Overview

USC Bovard Scholars aims to help high-achieving high school students with financial need gain admission to and succeed at the nation's top universities. Scholars will receive admission and financial aid guidance, personalized career exploration opportunities, comprehensive test preparation, and leadership development. Many of our students will be the first in their families to attend college. The program includes an intensive, residential experience during the summer on USC's campus at no cost to the students.

USC Bovard Scholars is seeking a motivated and driven leader to serve as Operations Coordinator for the 2026 summer intensive. Candidates should have experience supporting economically disadvantaged students and a passion for expanding student access and academic opportunity.

This seasonal position is a critical part of the Bovard Scholars core administrative team and ensures the excellent execution of the operations component of USC Bovard Scholars. This position performs a variety of important daily operational tasks. Given the nature of this position, this role requires the highest level of flexibility, communication, and a positive attitude to both students and peers.

The position can work remotely part-time in a flexible schedule beginning in April and will come on as a full-time seasonal resource employee with daily on-campus responsibilities beginning in July.

Responsibilities
  • Active member of the Bovard Scholars core administrative team, attend team meetings and proactively work to share relevant information with the team. Proactive collaboration and clear communication are essential.

  • Assure appropriate and timely responses to all incoming mail, phone calls and emails.

  • Communicate with prospective and admitted students and parents as needed, disseminating information and addressing questions and concerns.

  • Maintain office efficiency; plan and implement office systems, layout, equipment procurement, and office inventory/purchasing.

  • Collaborate with the residential team in planning program events, housing accommodations, travel arrangements and administrative tasks as assigned to foster a safe and enriching living experience for scholars.

  • Order and manage residence hall necessities, classroom supplies and course-related needs.

  • Assist program management with operational functions including planning, purchasing, and proposal development.

  • Coordinate administrative operations including intent to hire, required training, coordination with HR representatives, and program evaluations.

  • Support in the supervision and management of a team of student workers who will serve as office assistants.

  • Prepare and submit receipts via Concur and Workday, ensuring accuracy of receipt submission for any items purchased as it relates to field trip planning.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The hourly rate for this position is $30/hour. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience supervising student staff.

  • Experience working with youth/young adults.

  • Comfortable working with others in digital collaborative platforms.

  • Superior writing and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and competency.

  • Ability to adjust to changing priorities and perform well under pressure.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
