Overview
Gould School of Law is seeking a part-time instructor for the Academic Success Program for the spring 2026 and summer 2026 terms. The primary responsibilities of this instructor include teaching and coordinating bar preparation workshops, managing a bar exam resource portal for 3
Ls and alumni taking the July 2026 bar exam and 2
Ls taking the bar exam in 2027, answering student emails re: bar preparation, counseling and meeting with students during scheduled office hours. The time commitment over the spring and summer collectively will be comparable to that of teaching a 1-unit course.
This is an anon-benefits eligible position. USC reserves the "Adjunct" appointment for faculty teaching less than full-time at USC, who are employed full-time in a primary profession or career elsewhere. Adjunct faculty typically teach only one course per year but, in exceptional cases, may teach one course per semester, if approved by the dean.
Training RequirementsAdjunct Lecturers must complete specific training requirements as a condition of employment. Trainings required for all faculty and staff include USC's Harassment Prevention Training at the time of hire and every two years thereafter, USC's Integrity and Accountability Code Training at the time of hire, Information Security training annually, and Workplace Violence Prevention Plan training annually. A variety of other trainings may be required based on specific job responsibilities.

- Provide a time commitment comparable to teaching a 1‑unit course
- JD degree
- Strong academic record
- Licensed member of the California Bar Exam
- Prior teaching experience and/or prior experience with academic success or bar preparation work is preferred
The base salary range for this position is $2,433.66 - $9,984.65 per semester. When extending an offer of employment, USC considers factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the position, the number of units per course, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
