Job Summary

Responsible for the accurate reporting of student attendance and membership data through computerized and manual report records to include regular students, special education, Certificate of Educational Convenience students, foster home students, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all attendance and membership data validation, reconciliation and reporting to the Arizona Department of Education.
  • Develop, review, modify, and implement student information system procedures and training materials.
  • Provides training to district and school personnel on the district Student Information System.
  • Monitor student information system procedures used in all schools in the district.
  • Collect, audit, and compile membership and absence reports of district students prior to submitting same to Arizona Department of Education.
  • Collect, audit and balance state required reports for enrollment, attendance, and graduation rate study.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  • Technical support for various school personnel (Administrators, Teachers, Office Staff, Students and Parents) with SIS multiple modules, accessing the system through various devices, and other interacting applications.
  • Perform testing of software releases for student information applications.
  • Examine, research, diagnose, document, and report software bugs, enhancement requirements and other issues with the district's student information applications.
  • Work closely with district support staff and software vendors to improve product quality and ease of use.
  • Report SIS system issues to software vendor then verify fixes provided by software developers.
  • Create or verify the accuracy of reports and queries then modify as required.
  • Provide up to date documentation to be included in instructional guides, online documentation, procedural instructions and support guides.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county, and city statutes, rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public and others having business with the school district.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.
  • Organizing tasks and working independently to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Working effectively as a member of a team and applying consensus decision making techniques.
  • Making effective oral presentations clearly conveying technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience using database query technologies and relational database design.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills and ability to handle heavy telephone support traffic.
  • Strong problem solving skills with a disciplined and structured approach to problem resolution in various technology systems and programs.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions while engaged with multiple, diverse assigned tasks in a flexible environment where requirements and procedures continuously evolve.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, sharing workloads and responsibilities.
  • Understanding of district recordkeeping standards and state reporting guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Two (2) year degree or 60 credit hours, or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years' work experience querying relational database technologies.
  • Minimum of two years' experience using various computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in reporting student data to the Arizona Department of Education.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with school and district level staff, personnel from other districts, and personnel from Arizona State Agencies.
  • Experience with various student information systems.
Other Requirements
  • Must possess or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Must be able to pass a background clearance check.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona driver license.
  • May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • May be required to work outside normal working hours.
  • May be required to travel to perform work functions.
