The Department of Physical Education & Mind Body Health in the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California provides a variety of opportunities for students to improve their general health and fitness through fitness and wellness activities and classroom lecture classes.
We are seeking outstanding candidates for a part‑time instructor position for the 2026‑2027 academic year. Qualified applicants should have a strong background in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Recreation, or related fields, possess certifications in related fitness areas, and have demonstrated excellence in teaching a variety of fitness courses.
Under the guidance of the Director of Physical Education & Mind Body Health, the primary responsibilities will include instruction of activity‑based fitness and classroom lecture courses. Our pedagogy philosophy is to make an impact on students' overall wellbeing through teaching and building community, through a diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning environment.
Minimum Qualifications- Master's Degree in any of the following:
Kinesiology, Physical Education, Exercise Science, Recreational Sport/Administration, Education (with an emphasis in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Physiology of Exercise or Adaptive Physical Education) - Bachelor's Degree in any of the following:
Any Life Science, Dance, Physiology, Health Education, Recreational Sports, Physical Therapy or the equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master's degree is preferred. Promotion opportunities are available for those with a Master's degree. Faculty with a Bachelor's degree will be provided with a one‑year appointment.
- Prior teaching experience in college-level courses and/or training certifications in the domains of wellness, health, and fitness.
The per course rate for this position is $2,750.
