Job Title: Assistant Professor (PhD, DNP, DNAP, EdD, CRNA)

Position SummaryThe USC Program of Nurse Anesthesia invites applications for a full-time faculty position for a doctoral-prepared CRNA within 1-5 years of doctoral completion. This role is ideal for an early-career academic clinician‑educator committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and curriculum development. The successful candidate will contribute to a highly regarded nurse anesthesia program through didactic instruction, student mentorship, and active engagement in research and professional service.
Primary Responsibilities- Teach across the nurse anesthesia curriculum, including:
- Research coursework
- Pharmacology I & II
- Perioperative Evaluation and Management I & II
- Advanced Health Assessment
- Capstone/project courses
- Mentor students in academic progression, scholarly projects, and professional development
- Participate in course quality review, assessment, and ongoing curriculum revision
- Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publication, and academic dissemination
- Contribute to program and school committees, including admissions and governance
- Collaborate with faculty on program development and accreditation‑related initiatives
- Support student success through advising and individualized mentorship
- Maintain active clinical practice one day per week at Keck Hospital of USC to support clinical currency and integration of practice with teaching
- PhD, DNAP, DNP, or EdD required
- 1-5 years from completion of doctoral degree preferred
- Five years post‑training of active clinical practice in nurse anesthesiology
- Active, unrestricted board certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) through the NBCRNA
- Professional California license as a CRNA or eligibility (must be active before hiring)
- Professional California license as a Professional Registered Nurse or eligibility (must be active before hiring)
- Strong interest in teaching, scholarship, and academic career development
- Excellent communication, organizational, and collaborative skills
- History of conducting research and managing scholarship projects.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education and practice
- Prior teaching experience (not required)
- Demonstrated or emerging record of scholarship, research, or publication
- Interest in curriculum design and innovation
- Engagement or interest in professional leadership at the state or national level
