Sylvan Learning Center, the nation's leading provider of educational services, seeks part‑time teachers. At Sylvan Learning Center, we teach students (Kindergarten through High School) at various levels to increase confidence and independence, providing them with skills that will last a lifetime. We are currently looking for experienced tutors to work at our Glendale learning center, experienced in the following:

• MATH (up to Algebra 2 or beyond)
• READING/WRITING (up to 12th grade)
• TEST PREP (with training)

As an Instructor at Sylvan, your primary responsibilities are:
Teaching and building rapport with students. NO LESSON PLANS!

• Supervise, interact with, and motivate students
• Reward students for completed assignments
• Evaluate and document student progress
• Communicate student needs to the center director
• Inspire and develop a rapport with students
• Establish a fun learning environment
• Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan

• Four year degree or equivalent
• State or provincial teaching credentials (preferred)
• Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience (preferred)

• Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension up to 5th grade
• Knowledge of basic arithmetic up to 5th grade

• Knowledge of mathematics up to and beyond Algebra 2, Calculus, and Statistics

• Knowledge of phonics, comprehension, and writing practices up to 12th grade
