Our Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Prepare focused interventions for student’s academic success.
  • Instruct students in multiple subjects, using various teaching methods, audiovisual aids and other materials.
  • Prepare outline for course of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school.
  • Collaborate with teacher(s) to seek alternative interventions to motivate and prevent students from dropping out.
  • Assist pupils in selecting courses of study.
  • Counsel students in adjustment and academic problems.
  • Collaborate with parents, students and teachers to improve attendance.
  • Participate in various community groups or functions, faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, truancy court and teacher training workshops.
  • Meet with students and parents to discuss student progress and problems.
  • Participate in related activities, such as student organizations or committees.
  • Administers tests to evaluate pupil progress, assesses student work product and record results.
  • Maintain attendance records, student files, and transcripts.
  • Assist with State mandated student testing.
  • Responsible for file maintenance in preparation for random, bi-monthly, and year-end audits.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, inviting, professional center for students to attend.
  • Perform other administrative functions and duties assigned.
  • Maintain a partial or full summer/winter student load during the short-term enrollment periods.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Ability to teach and delegate responsibility to students.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently, exercising reasonable judgment, in a fast-paced, multi-task environment with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Ability to synergize with field and corporate staff to implement the educational program.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and demonstrate problem solving skills, while maintaining courtesy, professionalism, and a customer service attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with students, parents, co-workers, and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Working knowledge of Google Suite and database management.
Education and Experience:
  • BA/BS Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Some teaching or tutoring experience is preferred.
Additional Information:
  • Hours when needed (8am-4pm) (Monday - Thursday) Pay: $23.00-$24.50/hr.
  • PIE is a non-profit organization that partners with public schools to provide dropout recovery and prevention programs, including: schools (located in LA, TN, IL, AZ and ); college tours; and experiential programs that help students learn teamwork, resiliency, leadership, self-confidence, and communication.
  • Pathways’ schools utilize a blended learning model, combining independent study and small group instruction, focusing on academic recovery, experiential learning, and life and job skills development.
  • With a focus on one-on-one mentorship, PIE teachers and advisors are able to show struggling students the potential that they have not been able to see in themselves.
  • PIE’s experiential programs promote not only social and personal growth, but community involvement, environmentalism, and STEAM learning, and are proven to increase high school graduation rates among attendees.
  • Blackbird Farm and Rocky Mountain Pathways Ranch both fall under the PIE umbrella.
