Overview
The USC School of Architecture invites applicants for a part-time faculty position in Structural Design and Engineering to lead a unique joint Civil Engineering and Building Science Design Studio for Fall 2026. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to teach an undergraduate level technical design studio on the architectural and structural engineering aspects of building system design. Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of digital design, embodied carbon accounting, the state of the art of structural engineering, human factors considerations, controls, building standards, and sustainability performance criteria.
Responsibilities- Teach an undergraduate level technical design studio focused on the architectural and structural engineering aspects of building system design.
- Lead and coordinate a joint Civil Engineering and Building Science Design Studio for Fall 2026.
- Apply appropriate quantitative analysis techniques (including software-based analysis tools) within the architectural and engineering design process.
- Engage with contemporary digital design tools and sustainability performance criteria in studio work.
Qualifications: A Master of Science degree, or equivalent, is required. Preference is given to candidates with a proven track record of research and/or related professional work or prior teaching experience at recognized schools of architecture.
