Overview

The University invites applicants for a part-time faculty position in Structural Design and Engineering to lead a joint Civil Engineering and Building Science Design Studio for Spring 2027. The appointment focuses on teaching an upper-level undergraduate capstone design studio that integrates architectural, structural, and civil engineering design. The course covers evaluation, design, and analysis of building loads, including gravity, wind, and seismic loads.

Candidates should understand current structural engineering practices, code requirements, building systems, controls, standards, and sustainability performance criteria. This is a 35% part-time position with core salary range of $50.75 - $69.79 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Teach an upper-level undergraduate capstone design studio that integrates architectural, structural, and civil engineering design.
  • Evaluate, design, and analyze building loads (gravity, wind, seismic) and apply appropriate quantitative analysis techniques in the design process.
  • Utilize appropriate software-based analysis tools; experience with contemporary digital design software is preferred.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and coordination within the joint studio setting.
Qualifications
  • Master of Science degree, or equivalent; S.E. and/or P.E. license required.
  • Preference given to candidates with a proven track record of professional work.
