Position: FINANCIAL SERVICES DATA CONTROL TECHNICIAN (2365)

Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent, Business Services;
Director, Financial Services; or an assigned administrator, the Financial Services Data Control Technician assists in the operation of the Financial Services Department by performing a variety of advanced level technical duties requiring independent judgement and analysis and the application of specialized knowledge to financial services data. This position is also responsible for creating, maintaining, validating, and reporting confidential and sensitive data related to staff payroll and benefits, leave accounting, district budgets, purchasing, general accounting, and other department areas.

CURRENT VACANCY: One full‑time management position (8 hrs./day, 12 mos./yr.), with full district‑paid benefits, in the Business & Financial Services Department at the Administration Center. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. All Glendale Unified School District jobs are in person.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains an understanding of the programs and functions of the Financial Services Department and their relation to the District as a whole; establishes and assesses work priorities to assure timely completion of projects, reports, and assignments.
  • Performs complex clerical work relating to a specific function or program requiring specialized knowledge and involving frequent and responsible contacts. Clerical duties require the ability to perform skilled keyboarding and proficient use of computerized financial and data systems.
  • Collects, inputs, validates, maintains, reconciles, and provides up‑to‑date information data related to payroll and benefits, leave accounting, budget, accounts payable, purchasing, general accounting and other pertinent data as required.
  • Assists administrators and staff by providing accurate fiscal data, reports, and analysis to support budgeting, financial planning, audits, and operational decision‑making.
  • Supports users regarding procedures, schedules, and status of data input and output for financial reports and dashboards.
  • Inputs or retrieves confidential financial and personnel‑related data; adjusts, adds, or deletes information as required; retrieves, compiles, prepares, and distributes a variety of fiscal, payroll, and accounting reports.
  • Generates, formats, and distributes reports and dashboards using specialized database‑driven software and reporting tools such as financial management systems, payroll systems, leave management systems, Frontline, Google Looker Studio, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power BI, and other related applications.
  • Works collaboratively with district personnel to collate, verify, and analyze financial information for internal and external reporting, audits, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborates with the Human Resources Department and assists with the input, maintenance, and validation of information across various systems and programs, including HRS, HCM, Frontline, and other related platforms, to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and timely reporting.
  • Generates, formats, and distributes reports from Financial Services software systems and other related systems as directed.
  • Maintains a current and accurate data filing system.
  • Performs all related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Requirements

Three years of recent, increasingly responsible clerical or technical work which has involved typing/keyboarding, financial, fiscal, payroll, accounting, or budget‑related data, including extensive use of computerized information systems.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Completion of college‑level coursework or possession of an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in data sciences, business intelligence, management information systems, statistics, accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field.
  • Written and oral proficiency in a second language.
