Health Actuary

Key Responsibilities

• Perform as the primary or secondary consultant on Health Practice projects related to financial/actuarial modeling, pricing/rating, underwriting, and other actuarial work.
• Act as a technical resource on Health and Welfare design, financing, and managed care issues, providing actuarial perspective to colleagues; participate in training and mentoring initiatives for junior staff with emphasis on modeling techniques.
• Build and maintain effective collaborative relationships with colleagues, actuaries, consultants from other practices, and client staff.
• Support actuarial consulting projects by reviewing and analyzing data, establishing or reviewing actuarial models, training and developing Health Practice personnel, and supporting new business development efforts.

• Actuary with 6+ years of health actuarial experience, preferably 7–10 years of health and welfare managed care experience within consulting or professional service environment.
• Holds an ASA or FSA credential; candidates with 5+ SOA courses considered at Actuarial Associate level.
• Demonstrated project management experience and skills.
• Effective communicator (oral/written).
• Collaborative work ethic.
