Financial Services Management Position
Assists with managing, organizing, and directing the financial, accounting, and reporting functions; performs and supervises advanced accounting, internal auditing, financial analysis, and financial reporting activities; ensures compliance with applicable accounting standards and legal requirements; and performs duties related to these functions. Current vacancy:
One full-time management position (12 mos/yr, 8 hrs/day), in the Financial Services Department, at the Administration Center. Position includes full district-paid benefits for the employee and dependents. Maximum District contribution to the health insurance plan for the school year is $30,196.80 for all employees. All GUSD jobs are in person.
Experience:
Four years of recent professional experience with automated accounting systems and procedures as well as an administrative staff position. Experience must include such activities as financial analysis, data systems analysis, auditing, and report preparation. Experience must also include at least two years of supervising personnel, preferably in a school district or government agency.
Education:
Graduation from a recognized four-year college or university with a major in accounting, finance, business administration, or closely related field. Desirable qualifications: A Master's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably including courses in finance, accounting, management, educational administration, quantitative analysis and budgeting. Written and oral proficiency in a second language. License or Certificate:
Possession of a valid State of California Class C driver's license and use of an automobile to visit work sites and attend meetings.

Based on that evaluation, a limited number of top-qualifying applicants whose qualifications best meet the current needs of the District will be invited to participate in the next step of the examination process. The examination may include a written test and/or a technical project, and will include a technical qualifications appraisal interview.
Qualified candidates will be provided with more details prior to the start of the examination process. After an offer of employment a candidate must submit proof of freedom from tuberculosis. Also required after an offer, the candidate must complete a pre-employment physical examination and obtain fingerprint clearance through the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (district-paid). The onboarding process includes legally mandated training(s) and reference checks.
In addition, pursuant to Senate Bill 848 (SB848), the district is required to conduct reference checks that include inquiry into whether the applicant has ever been the subject of a credible complaint, investigation, or disciplinary action related to child abuse, sexual misconduct, or sexual harassment.
