OverviewThe Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy at the University of Southern California invites applications for a full‑time tenure‑track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate level. The faculty member is expected to establish an independent and extramurally funded research program of outstanding quality in an area closely related to biokinesiology, the study of the biological bases of both healthy and disordered human movement.

In addition to research, the faculty member will teach in the Doctor of Physical Therapy and/or PhD programs and contribute to faculty and University governance. The role emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, linking basic and clinical research with the broader USC academic health center.

Candidates may have backgrounds in biomechanics, computer science, engineering, exercise science, gerontology, neuroscience, motor development, or physical therapy clinical science, including health services outcomes.
Qualifications- Earned post‑professional doctoral degree required.
- Early‑stage investigators: promising publication record and post‑doctoral research experience essential.
- Mid‑career candidates: evidence of prior research funding, teaching aptitude, and graduate student advising expected.
- Eligibility for California physical therapy licensure preferred, although not required.
The Division is administratively housed within the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry, located on USC’s Health Sciences Campus. It collaborates closely with departments in medicine, occupational science, pharmacy, speech pathology, preventive medicine, and with institutions such as Keck Hospital, USC Norris Cancer Hospital, and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
Compensation & BenefitsAnnual base salary ranges:
Assistant Professor $100,000–$150,000;
Associate Professor $125,000–$175,000. The university offers a comprehensive benefits package. The position becomes available Fall 2025.
