Roles & Responsibilities
  • Implement occupational therapy treatment plans established by the supervising Occupational Therapist to help patients regain independence
  • Provide skilled therapeutic interventions focused on activities of daily living, functional mobility, strength, coordination, and safety
  • Assist patients with adaptive techniques and equipment to improve functional outcomes
  • Monitor patient progress, document treatments accurately, and communicate findings to the supervising OT
  • Collaborate closely with Physical Therapists, Speech Therapists, nursing staff, and other care team members to coordinate care
  • Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, safety strategies, and functional techniques to support recovery at home
  • Ensure timely, compliant documentation in line with facility policies, state regulations, and professional standards
  • Promote a patient-centered approach and ethical productivity expectations in daily practice
Qualifications
  • Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in California
  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or post-acute care setting preferred
  • Strong clinical skills with a patient-centered approach
  • Effective communication and time-management abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
  • Familiarity with occupational therapy practices in post-acute and SNF settings
  • Skilled in ADL retraining, functional mobility, therapeutic activities, and use of adaptive equipment
  • Strong clinical reasoning and focus on patient safety
  • Accurate documentation and ability to communicate clinical findings clearly
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and time-management skills
  • Ability to follow supervising OT plans and adapt interventions to individual patient needs
