Responsibilities
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of patients treated by Physical Therapist Assistants and Therapy Technicians. May be assigned to orient staff and students and assume duties of the supervisor in the absence of that individual.
  • Assesses patients  needs; identifies and initiates appropriate physical therapy interventions; collaborates with other patient care team personnel to maintain professional standards and interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Observes and evaluates treatment effect and progress toward short- and long-term goals; recommends changes to the physician when needed.
  • Performs assessments on each patient and conducts reassessments as per policy; ensures accurate and timely quality improvement scoring. Population served includes adults and geriatrics requiring medical rehabilitation services.
  • Able to assess pain that interferes with participation in rehabilitation; implements appropriate interventions to reduce pain and coordinates physician contact when intervention is needed.
  • Forms and updates patient-specific plan of care for physical therapy.
  • Reports patient progress and discharge barriers in patient team conferences.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical errors.
  • Develops and implements teaching plans based on identified learning needs; includes family as appropriate and documents appropriately.
  • Demonstrates knowledge, competency and proficiency in physical therapy modalities.

Qualifications
  • Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the state where the hospital is located
  • Inpatient rehab experience preferred
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
