To be considered, submit an application and complete the “Law Enforcement – Frontline National” exam through the National Testing Network at by March 24, 2026 (no earlier than one year from the time of application). Select “City of Glendale” to share results with our agency.
Essential Functions- Ensure Department services are provided with exceptional customer service and highest ethical standards.
- Respond to calls for service regarding accidents, emergencies, crimes, threats, altercations and/or requests for aid; provide information and assistance to the public.
- Emphasize a community‑based policing philosophy focused on community interaction and collaborative problem solving.
- Administer first aid, interview, interrogate, record statements from witnesses, suspects and victims, identify facts and prepare written reports.
- Apprehend suspects utilizing safe driving, foot pursuit, obstacle passage, physical subduing, self‑defence and arrest control techniques, and firearms under appropriate conditions.
- Enforce traffic laws, direct traffic, issue citations and warnings, investigate accidents and scenes.
- Investigate matters involving juveniles, child neglect and juvenile delinquency; refer to appropriate authorities.
- Serve subpoenas, warrants, testify in court, mark and store evidence, apprehend suspects, make arrests, and confer with City/District Attorney’s Office.
- Assume responsibility for safe and efficient completion of duties.

Education / TrainingHigh school graduation or State Board of Education issued certificate of proficiency, GED, CHSPE, HiSET, CPP certificate.
License(s) / Certification(s)Valid Class C California driver’s license.

- Applicants must be of good moral character, with no felony or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude.
- Minimum age 21 at time of appointment as Police Officer.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law.
- Tattoo policy:
No visible tattoos, body art, or other skin markings while on duty (except for medical scarring).
Must pass a pre‑placement medical examination and a psychological evaluation. All candidates will undergo a comprehensive background investigation, including livescan fingerprinting and polygraph.
Residence RequirementsWithin four months of employment, all employees must live within a radius of sixty contiguous land miles of the Glendale Civic Center.
