CNC Machinist
The CNC Machinist sets up, programs, and operates CNC Haas machines using Mastercam to manufacture precision tooling for the aerospace and defense industry in a large, clean tooling area.
Responsibilities
- Set up CNC machining equipment, including Haas CNC mills and CNC lathes, for production runs.
- Program CNC machines using Mastercam to produce high-precision tooling for aerospace and defense applications.
- Operate CNC mills and lathes to machine parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Perform CNC machine changeovers and adjustments to optimize quality, efficiency, and throughput.
- Use drill presses, grinding equipment, and conventional mills and lathes as needed to support machining operations.
- Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet dimensional and quality requirements for aerospace tooling.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area within a large tooling environment.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary program or setup modifications to improve results.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and support continuous improvement efforts.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC machining equipment.
- Proficiency with Haas CNC machines, including setup and operation.
- Ability to program CNC machines using Mastercam for complex tooling.
- Experience operating CNC mills and CNC lathes in a production environment.
- Experience in machining components or tooling for the aerospace industry.
- Skilled in using drill presses, grinding machines, and conventional mills and lathes.
- Strong understanding of machining practices, tolerances, and quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and machining instructions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience in aerospace and defense manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with Mazak equipment and controls.
- Comfort working in a dedicated tooling area with multiple machines.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality precision parts.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adjust programs and setups as needed.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a production team.

Work Environment
This role is based in a Sun Valley manufacturing facility with a large, dedicated tooling area that is very clean and well maintained. You will work primarily on CNC Haas machines, along with other equipment such as Mazak, drill presses, grinding machines, mills, and lathes. The position is on first shift, providing daytime working hours in a production environment focused on aerospace and defense tooling.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glendale, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $45.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
