The University of Southern California Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join its faculty as a Clinical Instructor in our division of gynecologic oncology. Under the guidance of the gynecologic oncology faculty, and in accordance with standardized procedures, this practitioner will perform histories and physical examinations, treat common episodic and chronic health conditions, counsel patients and families, monitor patient progress, and assist with medical research projects within the scope of gynecologic oncology.
The practitioner will see new patients jointly with gynecologic oncology faculty, conduct surveillance visits, assess patients receiving chemotherapy, and provide care for chemotherapy patients in the infusion center who experience problems. The practitioner will evaluate patients arriving at the Emergency Treatment Center, respond to patient phone calls, and communicate results. The practitioner will collaborate with other health‑care team members, consulting and referring as appropriate, while retaining responsibility for ongoing clinical management.
In addition, the practitioner will serve as a resource for nurses and ancillary staff at other divisional practice sites and perform other duties as assigned.
Master's Degree‑ Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing (MSN).
Minimum Experience3 years of clinical work experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Women's Health or Oncology.
Required Licensure / Certifications- Current State of California license as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Current Nurse Practitioner license from the CA Board of Registered Nursing
- NP Furnisher (CA DCA) – Current furnishing license to administer medications in California
- Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Certificate for Schedule II‑V controlled substances issued by the U.S. Department of Justice
- NP Board Certified – Possession of national board certification in the Nurse Practitioner specialty area accredited by the Accreditation Board of Specialty Nursing (ABSNC) or National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA)
- Chemotherapy Administration Certification (preferred)
- If working in a hospital or acute‑care setting, certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Association of Critical‑Care Nurses (AACN) as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) upon hire. This certification is preferred but optional; it is grandfathered for candidates hired or transferred prior to December 2015.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification for Health Care Providers from the American Heart Association
- Fire Life Safety Training (Los Angeles City). A card must be obtained within 30 days of hire for employees not already holding one and renewed before expiration.
The salary range for this position is $170,000–$185,000.
