Responsibilities
- Lead and support the patient care team in providing safe, recovery-focused care, implementing the nursing process (assessment, nursing diagnosis, care planning, education, intervention, evaluation, and revision).
- Provide education and advocacy to patients and their families, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (CMS Conditions of Participation, Title 22, CDPH regulations, DNV-GL/NIAHO standards, etc.).
- Support the department manager and director in quality improvement, unit growth, and efficient service management.
- Plan and coordinate patient care for the shift, assist the charge nurse, contribute to unit planning and improvement initiatives.
- Precept, train, and validate competency for new hires and new procedures; teach nursing students.
- Delegate assignments to RNs, LVNs, CNAs as indicated; communicate expectations to assigned staff.
- Monitor and report improvement opportunities, chain-of-command information, and unusual events.
- Provide compassionate, healing care, educate patients on self‑care actions, and report abnormal findings to caregivers.
- Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure in California.
- BSN degree desired; if not obtained by hire, must be earned within 5 years.
- Minimum 1 year of acute‑care clinical experience; preferred experience with orthopedics, stroke, cardiac cath lab, ICU, stepdown, ER, or specialty units.
- Relevant specialty certifications (e.g., BLS, ACLS, PALS, AB508, NIHSS, NRP, ENPC) required or preferred; all certifications must be active at hire.
- Ability to practice within the legal scope of nursing, make patient‑care decisions, and provide a healing environment.
- Cardiac Cath Lab Nurses: 1+ year in ICU, stepdown, or ER; 1+ year IR/EP or Cath Lab experience preferred.
- 6th Floor Med/Surg Employees: 2+ years Orthopedic/Med‑Surg; certification in Medical‑Surgical, Orthopedic, or other specialty preferred.
- All specialty units require BLS; ACLS mandatory for surgery, PACU/SDS/GI lab, cath lab, ED, ICU/Telemetry; PALS, NRP, AB508, NIHSS, ENPC as applicable.
- Hourly rate range: $47.58 – $76.68.
