The Registered Nurse serves as an integral member of the patient care team, supporting the Chief Nursing Officer in leading the team to ensure the safety, recovery, and comfort of patients. The RN implements the nursing process, provides education and advocacy, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements such as CMS Conditions of Participation, Title 22, and CDPH regulations.
The RN collaborates with the department manager and director to improve unit services, leading initiatives that enhance efficiency and patient outcomes. Executive functions include planning, directing, delegating, coordinating, precepting new hires, and teaching nursing students.
Responsibilities- Implement the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, care planning, education planning, intervention, evaluation, and revision of plan.
- Provide patient education and advocacy.
- Practice in compliance with regulatory standards (CMS, Title 22, CDPH, DNV-GL/NIAHO).
- Support unit quality improvement and growth of services.
- Participate in unit planning and improvement initiatives.
- Precept new hires, validate competency, and train nursing students.
- Delegate care to RNs, LVNs, and CNAs as indicated.
- Communicate expectations to assigned staff regarding interventions and reporting.
- Identify improvement opportunities and report unusual events.
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in an acute care setting.
- Preferred experience with orthopedics, stroke, ICU, stepdown, ER, cardiac catheterization, or medical‑surgical nursing.
- BSN degree desired; completion within 5 years preferred.
- Certification in specialty (Medical‑Surgical, Orthopedic, etc.) preferred.
- California Registered Nurse license.
- BLS and ACLS required for all units.
- Additional certifications based on unit: PACU/SDS/GI Lab – BLS, ACLS, PALS;
Cath Lab – BLS, ACLS; ED – BLS, ACLS, PALS, AB508 (within 30 days), NIHSS (within 30 days), NRP (within 6 months), ENPC (within 12 months);
Geropsych – BLS, AB508 (within 30 days); ICU/Telemetry/Med Surg – BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (within 30 days), PALS, NRP certified by AHA.
Hourly rate range: $47.58 to $76.68.
