Registered Nurse - Emergency Room - Shift; Union

Job Summary

Registered Nurse who works closely with the Chief Nursing Officer to lead the patient care team, ensuring safety, recovery, and comfort of patients. Implements the nursing process—assessment, nursing diagnosis, plan of care, education, interventions, evaluation, and plan revision—while advocating for patients and providing education.

• Provide direct patient care within scope of practice and patient acuity classification.
• Implement the nursing process and update care plans as needed.
• Educate patients on condition, self‑care, and abnormal findings.
• Prevent harm and facilitate recovery through safe passage of patients.
• Collaborate with charge nurses and staff to plan and deliver care for the shift.
• Precept and validate competency of new hires, assist with new procedures, and teach nursing students.
• Delegate tasks to RNs, LVNs, CNAs, and coordinate team communication.
• Contribute to unit planning, quality improvement, and strategic growth.
• Report and communicate expectations, improvements, and unusual events.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Graduation from an accredited Registered Nurse program; BSN desired. If not a BSN, must obtain within 5 years.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in an acute care setting; experience with orthopedics and stroke preferred.
• Specialty experience preferred:
  Cardiac Cath Lab, ICU, step‑down, ER, Med‑Surg, Ortho, or other specialty as outlined.
• Current California Registered Nurse License.
• Certification in clinical specialty or management as desired.

• BLS (all positions).
• ACLS (all positions).
• PALS (ED, ICU/5S, Telemetry, Med‑Surg).
• AB508, NIHSS, NRP, ENPC as required within specified timelines for emergency and specialty areas.
• Cardiac‑specific: BLS, ACLS.
• Other specialized certifications as outlined for ED, PACU/SDS/ GI Lab, Cath Lab, Geropsych, ICU/5S, Telemetry, Med‑Surg, and Float Pool.

Hourly rate range: $47.58 to $76.68.
