Registered Nurse – Patient Care Team
As an integral member of the patient care team, the Registered Nurse supports the Chief Nursing Officer and leads patient care within the scope of practice, ensuring safety, recovery, and comfort of patients through thorough implementation of the nursing process, education, and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:- Implement nursing assessment, diagnosis, plan of care, and education plan; execute interventions and evaluate outcomes, revising plans as needed.
- Provide education and advocacy to patients and families.
- Practice in compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation, Title 22, CDPH regulations, DNV‑GL/NIAHO standards, and other regulatory requirements.
- Support department manager and director in quality improvement and expansion of unit services.
- Assist charge nurse with shift planning and overall unit improvement initiatives.
- Precept new hires and validate competence of new procedures and staff.
- Delegate tasks to RNs, LVNs, CNAs as needed.
- Coordinate assigned team and communicate expectations to staff.
- Report unusual events and communicate improvement opportunities through the chain of command.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited Registered Nurse Program. BSN preferred; if not obtained by hire, must be obtained within 5 years.
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in an acute care setting (preferred).
- Experience treating orthopedic and stroke patient populations is preferred.
- For Cardiac Cath Lab Nurses – 1+ year experience in ICU, step‑down, ER or Cardiac Cath Lab settings.
- For 6th Floor Med/Surg – two years’ experience with orthopedic and medical‑surgical nursing, certification in Medical‑Surgical or Orthopedic specialty preferred.
Certifications:
- California Registered Nurse license and relevant clinical specialty or management certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – required for all.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – required for all.
- Advanced Pediatric Life Support (PALS) – required for PACU/SDS/GI lab, ED, ICU/5S, 4th Telemetry, and 6th Med‑Surg.
- AB508, NIHSS, NRP, ENPC – specific to ED and Geropsych as outlined, must be obtained within specified time frames.
- All certifications must be active and within effective date of hire/transfer.
Hourly rate range: $47.58 to $76.68.
