Registered Nurse - 6th Floor Med​/Surg Telemetry - Nights; Union

Responsibilities

As an integral member of the patient care team, the Registered Nurse supports the Chief Nursing Officer in leading the patient care team to provide safety, recovery, and comfort of patients by implementing the nursing process (assessment, nursing diagnosis, developing the plan of care and education plan; implementation of interventions, evaluation of interventions and revision of plan as needed) and providing education and advocacy.

• Practice in compliance with regulatory requirements including CMS Conditions of Participation, Title 22, CDPH regulations, DNV-GL/NIAHO standards, etc.
• Support the department manager and director in quality improvement and growth of unit services; provide leadership in collaboration with co-workers and other departments.
• Manage efficient services with meaningful and valuable outcomes.
• Make decisions within the scope of practice and patient classification method; act on assessments performed.
• Provide a healing environment for recovery and safe passage of patients through their episode of care.
• Precept and validate competence of new hires and new procedures; teach nursing students.
• Delegate responsibilities to RNs, LVNs, CNAs as indicated.
• Coordinate assigned team and communicate expectations and interventions to assigned staff.
• Identify improvement opportunities and communicate through the chain of command; report unusual events.

Minimum Education: Graduation from a Registered Nurse Program; BSN preferred (if not upon hire, will obtain within 5 years).

Minimum Experience / Knowledge: 1 year clinical experience in an acute care setting preferred. Experience in treating orthopedic and stroke patient populations preferred.

• Cardiac Cath Lab Nurses: 1 year Nursing experience in an acute care setting such as ICU, stepdown, or ER preferred; 1+ years IR, EP, or Cardiac Cath Lab experience preferred.
• 6th Floor Med/Surg Employees:
  Two years’ experience with orthopedic and medical-surgical nursing preferred;
  Certification in Medical‑Surgical, Orthopedic or other specialty preferred.

Required License/Certification: California Registered Nurse License;
Certification in clinical specialty or management desired.

• Surgery: BLS, ACLS
• PACU/SDS/GI Lab: BLS, ACLS, PALS
• Cath Lab: BLS, ACLS
• ED: BLS, ACLS, PALS, AB508 (within 30 days of hire), NIHSS (within 30 days of hire), NRP (within 6 months of hire), ENPC (within 12 months of hire)
• Geropsych: BLS, AB508 (within 30 days of hire)
• ICU/5S, 4th Telemetry, 6th Med Surg and Float Pool: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (within 30 days of hire); BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP must be AHA certified.

All certifications must be active effective date of hire or transfer unless otherwise indicated.

Hourly rate range: $47.58 to $76.68.
