Unit Supervisor Overview
First line manager responsible for day‑to‑day oversight of unit operations, supporting the Chief Nursing Officer and department manager, ensuring safe, high‑quality patient care, staff development, quality improvement, operational efficiency, and collaboration across departments.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical and operational leadership within the unit.
- Oversee safe and high quality patient care delivery.
- Lead staff development and quality improvement initiatives.
- Plan and collaborate with co‑workers and other departments.
- Manage efficient unit services with meaningful outcomes.
- Graduation from a Registered Nurse Program; BSN desired (if not upon hire, obtain within 5 years).
- Completion of a unit supervisor or management training program preferred.
- Minimum 2+ years of clinical experience in an acute setting (preferred).
- Minimum 6+ months of Unit Supervisor or Charge Nurse experience (preferred).
- For 6th Floor Med/Surg:
Two years’ experience with Orthopedic and Medical‑Surgical nursing preferred; certification in Medical‑Surgical, Orthopedic or other specialty preferred.
- California Registered Nurse License; certification in clinical specialty or management desired.
- BLS, ACLS required for all units.
- PALS, AB508, NIHSS, NRP, ENPC may be required based on unit:
- Surgery – BLS, ACLS
- PACU/SDS/GI Lab – BLS, ACLS, PALS
- ED – BLS, ACLS, PALS, AB508 (within 30 days), NIHSS (within 30 days), NRP (within 6 months), ENPC (within 12 months)
- Geropsych – BLS, AB508 (within 30 days)
- ICU/5S, 4th Telemetry, 6th Med Surg, Float Pool – BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (within 30 days), PALS, NRP must be AHA certified.
Hourly rate range: $53.00 – $85.00.
