Position Summary

Adjunct Faculty –
Biostatistics and Nursing Research Instructor responsible for providing high‑quality instruction in Biostatistics and Nursing Research courses for Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students. The instructor will facilitate student learning by integrating statistical concepts, research methodology, and evidence‑based practice to prepare students for professional nursing practice. Instruction may be delivered on‑campus, hybrid or online in accordance with institutional policies, accreditation standards and program learning outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned Biostatistics and Nursing Research courses following the approved curriculum, course objectives and student learning outcomes.
  • Deliver engaging instruction using lectures, discussions, case studies, simulations and technology‑enhanced learning strategies.
  • Teach concepts including descriptive and inferential statistics; data collection and analysis; quantitative and qualitative research methods; evidence‑based practice; research design and methodology; critical appraisal of nursing literature; interpretation and application of health‑care research; and ethical principles in nursing research.
  • Assist students in developing skills to analyze research findings and apply evidence‑based practice to clinical decision‑making.
  • Develop and maintain course syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, examinations and grading criteria.
  • Evaluate student performance through examinations, research projects, presentations, written assignments and other assessment methods.
  • Provide timely feedback and academic support to promote student success.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grading and student records in accordance with institutional policies.
  • Utilize the college’s Learning Management System (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle) for course delivery, communication, grading and documentation.
  • Foster a professional, inclusive and student‑centered learning environment.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum review, assessment activities, accreditation initiatives and professional development as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and comply with institutional policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of biostatistics, nursing research, evidence‑based practice and health‑care data analysis.
  • Ability to explain statistical concepts in a practical, student‑centered manner.
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Learning Management Systems (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, etc.).
  • Experience using statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R or similar) preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
  • Commitment to academic excellence, student success and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or Doctoral degree (PhD, DNP, DrPH, or EdD) in Nursing, Public Health, Biostatistics or a related discipline.
  • Experience teaching BSN or RN‑to‑BSN students.
  • Experience conducting nursing or health‑care research.
  • Experience with evidence‑based practice initiatives and quality improvement projects.
  • Online teaching experience preferred.
