Registered Nurse - GI Lab - Shift; Union

As an integral member of the patient care team, the Registered Nurse supports the Chief Nursing Officer in leading the patient care team in providing safety, recovery, and comfort for patients. The RN implements the nursing process (assessment, nursing diagnosis, care and education planning; interventions, evaluation, and plan revision) and offers education and advocacy while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, including CMS Conditions of Participation, Title 22, CDPH regulations, and DNV‑GL/NIAHO standards.

The Registered Nurse supports the department manager and director in quality improvement, growth of unit services, collaborative leadership with co‑workers and other departments, and efficient service management that yields meaningful and valuable outcomes.

Patient care within the scope of practice.

Patient acuity based on a classification decision‑making method.

RNs practice to the full extent of their legal scope based on education, training, and competency; they make judgments and decisions about patient care and act on assessments.

RNs provide a healing environment, prevent harm, educate patients on conditions and self‑care, and report abnormal findings to caregivers. Comfort and compassionate care are essential.

Planning: Assists charge nurse with plan delivery for the shift; contributes to overall unit planning and improvement.

Directing: Precepts and validates competency of new hires and new procedures; teaches nursing students.

Delegating: Delegates tasks to RNs, LVNs, and CNAs as indicated.

Coordinating: Coordinates the assigned team.

Communicating: Sets expectations for staff, reports back, and discusses improvement opportunities, information through the chain of command, and unusual events.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education: Graduation from a Registered Nurse Program.

BSN desired (if not obtained upon hire, must be obtained within five years).

Minimum Experience/Knowledge: One year of clinical experience in an acute care setting preferred.

Experience treating ortho and stroke patient populations preferred where applicable.

• One year of nursing experience in an acute care setting such as ICU, stepdown, or ER preferred.
• One year or more of IR, EP, or Cardiac Cath Lab experience preferred.

• Two years of experience with orthopedic and medical‑surgical nursing preferred.
• Certification in medical‑surgical, orthopedic, or other specialty preferred.

California Registered Nurse License.

Certification in a clinical specialty or management preferred.

• Surgery: BLS, ACLS
• PACU/SDS/GI Lab: BLS, ACLS, PALS
• Cath Lab: BLS, ACLS
• ED: BLS, ACLS, PALS, AB508 (within 30 days of hire), NIHSS (within 30 days of hire), NRP (within 6 months of hire), ENPC (within 12 months of hire)
• Geropsych: BLS, AB508 (within 30 days of hire)
• ICU/5S, 4th Telemetry, 6th Med Surg and Float Pool: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (within 30 days of hire)

BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP must be AHA certified.

All certifications must be active from the effective date of hire or transfer, unless otherwise indicated.

The hourly rate range for this position is $47.58 to $76.68. Compensation decisions consider factors such as scope and responsibilities, candidate experience and education, key skills, internal equity, market, and organizational considerations.
