Job Overview
As an integral member of the patient care team, the Registered Nurse supports the Chief Nursing Officer in leading the patient care team in providing safety, recovery and comfort for patients by implementing the nursing process (assessment, nursing diagnosis, development of the plan of care and educational plan; implementation of interventions, evaluation of interventions and revision of the plan as needed);
and providing education and advocacy. The RN practices in compliance with regulatory requirements including CMS Conditions of Participation, Title 22, CDPH regulations, DNV‑GL/NIAHO standards, etc.
Patient care is performed within the scope of practice. RN acuity is based on a patient classification decision‑making method. RNs are expected to practice to the full extent of their legal scope of practice based on education, training and competency, making judgments and decisions about patient care and acting on assessments performed. RNs are accountable for providing a healing environment, preventing harm, educating patients about their condition and self‑care actions, and reporting abnormal findings as required.
ExecutiveFunctions Planning
Assists charge nurse with planning delivery of patient care for the shift and contributes to overall unit planning and improvement.
DirectingPrecepts and validates competency of new hires and new procedures; teaches nursing students.
DelegatingDelegates tasks to other RNs, LVNs, CNAs as indicated.
CoordinatingCoordinates assigned team communications, sets expectations for assigned staff regarding interventions and reporting, and identifies improvement opportunities and unusual events.
Minimum Education- Graduation from a Registered Nurse Program.
- BSN desired; if not held upon hire, will obtain within 5 years.
- 1 year clinical experience in an acute care setting preferred.
- Experience treating orthopedic and stroke patient populations preferred.
- 1 year nursing experience in an acute care setting such as ICU, step‑down, or ER preferred.
- 1 year+ IR, EP, or Cardiac Cath Lab experience preferred.
- Two years’ experience with orthopedic and medical‑surgical nursing preferred.
- Certification in medical‑surgical, orthopedic or another specialty preferred.
- California Registered Nurse License.
- Certification in a clinical specialty or management desired.
- Surgery: BLS, ACLS.
- PACU/SDS/GI Lab: BLS, ACLS, PALS.
- Cath Lab: BLS, ACLS.
- ED: BLS, ACLS, PALS, AB508 (within 30 days of hire), NIHSS (within 30 days of hire), NRP (within 6 months of hire), ENPC (within 12 months of hire).
- Geropsych: BLS, AB508 (within 30 days of hire).
- ICU/5S, 4th Telemetry, 6th Med Surg and Float Pool: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (within 30 days of hire).
BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP must be AHA certified. All certifications must be active effective date of hire/transfer unless otherwise indicated.
CompensationThe hourly rate range for this position is $47.58 to $76.68.
