- Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved obstetric nursing techniques.
- Prepare equipment and aid physician during labor, delivery, and examination of patients.
- Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn.
- Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care.
- Respond to obstetric emergencies, including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress, using evidence‑based protocols.
- Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes.
- Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results.
- Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures.
- Comply with all regulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetric nursing care.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing.
- One year of recent experience as a Labor & Delivery RN.
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification.
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification.
- STABLE and ACLS Certifications (AHA/ARC).
- Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position.

- Ability to read and comprehend written and verbal instructions.
- Proficiency in PC skills.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
- Must work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary), presenting a positive attitude and professionalism.
- Must grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
- Must cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure; work under supervision or independently; handle irregular activity schedules and maintain concentration to detail.
- Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate.
