Charge Nurse; RN; Operating Room

Position Overview: The OR - Operating Room Charge Nurse (RN) oversees departmental functions within the surgical unit, acting as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders. They coordinate staffing, manage patient care, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

• Supervise and delegate patient care to RNs, LPNs, and CNAs based on patient needs and staff competencies.
• Coordinate daily staffing, scheduling, and staff orientation, ensuring competencies are met.
• Develop and implement plans to meet regulatory and quality standards.
• Provide direct patient care according to established standards and practices.
• Monitor and evaluate care effectiveness, making adjustments as necessary.
• Manage customer service interactions, addressing issues proactively.
• Train and mentor staff, fostering professional development.
• Handle departmental operational tasks and support change management initiatives.

• Registered Nurse license in the state, with CPR, ACLS, and additional certifications as required by specialty.
• Minimum of two years relevant clinical nursing experience; supervisory experience preferred.
• Effective communication, decision‑making skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
• Knowledge of departmental budget management and change implementation.

Education from an accredited nursing school; specialized certifications in areas like NICU, Bariatrics, or Wound Care are preferred. Advanced fetal monitoring or similar skills may be required depending on the department.
