Part Time Head Cashier; Store Glendale, CA

Overview

The Head Cashier is responsible for register transactions involving the sale and/or return of merchandise and assists the Assistant Manager, Operations with office duties.

• Customer Service:
  Project a positive representation, greet customers, thank customers by name, maintain a friendly demeanor, ensure excellent service from supervised staff, answer calls and pages promptly, communicate problems to management, ensure fast and accurate checkouts, perform cashier duties to eliminate delays, possess strong product and store layout knowledge, greet and thank customers by name whenever possible.
• Register Operations:
  Follow all cash register transaction procedures, balance the register drawer, adhere to Store Support Center programs and promotions, assist with register and computer problems, downloads, upgrades, and fixes as needed.
• Cash Room Operations:
  Verify cashier‑balancing procedures and deposit procedures in the absence of the Assistant Manager‑Operations; prepare deposits, long/short recaps, cashier over/short acknowledgements and sales audits; verify weekend vault counts and randomly verify vault.
• Office Operations:
  Assist the Assistant Manager‑Operations with multiple office duties, including receiving, invoices, purchase orders, inventory adjustments, etc.
• Audit:
  Assist with the quarterly audit checklist and observe cashiers for proper phone etiquette, greeting customers, handling returns, and ensuring customer attentiveness.
• Front End Appearance and Upkeep:
  Keep the front end neat and clean; face and dust the front end; stock impulse counters and fresh merchandise; rotate seasonal items; stock fresh ads and forms; assist with decorating the front end per Store Support Center program; call for cart pickups when necessary; perform all other duties as assigned.
• Leadership:
  Communicate merchandising, cost‑control, or sales ideas to the General Manager; participate in store and cashier meetings; assist with training and development of new cashiers; work with the Assistant Manager‑Operations to prepare for advancement.

• High School or GED equivalent.
• Experience in retail and/or office management preferred.
• Cashier experience preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Standing, walking, lifting (up to 25 pounds) and climbing.

Starting at $17.00 - $19.00 per hour.
