Assistant Merchandise Buyer

: 6+ month contract
Pay Rate
: $29 - $31/hr DOE
The Assistant Merchandise Buyer assists the Merchandise Buying Manager/Associate Merchandise Buying Manager in the creation of assortments for online retail website, flagship stores and 3rd party marketplaces. As the Merchandise Assistant Buyer, you will develop and execute the merchandise assortment strategy for the assigned department that supports the sales volume targets. You should understand brands, product categories and consumer segments within the regional landscape and exhibit strong organization, prioritization and communication skills.
You will build and maintain cross‑functional partnerships with teams that support the region's channels.
- Own the merchandise strategy for assigned department ensuring the assortment meets the financial and assortment goals.
- Support the Merchandise Leader with the quarterly development of key categories from product ideation and assortment building through sample development.
- Report and present quarterly on cross‑functional market trends, competitive analysis and identify white space opportunities.
- Analyze business performance weekly; identify wins, opportunities and risks in season through sales performance data.
- Participate in all departmental and team meetings, including global cross‑functional and business review meetings.
- Manage the assigned department's range plan including setup, stage set coordination and updates.
- Build relationships with key licensing partners and vendors to augment product assortments.
- Establish relationships with omni‑channel partners including Site Merchandising, Marketing, Production, Visual and Guest Services to ensure the department's product strategy is implemented accurately.
- Proof site assets, product pages and URLs, providing proofing comments to copy & photography.
- Partner with Site Merchandising to ensure assortment discovery.
- Own the E‑Commerce turnover process, creating turnover sheets, delivering all product details, tracking and presenting photo samples, and attending weekly fast‑track meetings where needed.
- Prepare and maintain photobooks/playbook aligning with product flow calendar and quarterly showcase deliverables to support product handoffs to Site Merchandising, Marketing, Copy & Creative.
- Monitor and communicate product quality report in conjunction with PI and Global sourcing and agreed action plans.

- Bachelor's degree + 2‑3 years related buying experience.
