Lead Study Moderator
The Lead Study Moderator anchors on‑site execution for in‑person user research and data collection studies. This role owns daily session flow across the site, directing moderators, managing the participant pipeline, resolving live issues with prototype hardware, and serving as the single point of accountability for protocol adherence and data integrity. The Lead Study Moderator is a working supervisor: actively moderating sessions while overseeing throughput, quality, and team coordination across shifts.
Responsibilities- On‑site oversight of moderated study execution, including session pacing, protocol adherence, and quality control across multiple concurrent moderators.
- Direct moderation of in‑person sessions when required, including ICF administration, participant guidance, and data capture.
- Real‑time troubleshooting of prototype hardware, with judgment on when to escalate versus resolve in‑session.
- Participant pipeline management: scheduling, attendance tracking, no‑show recovery, and same‑day adjustments to maintain throughput.
- Strong operational discipline; discretion handling confidential hardware and participant data; clear written and verbal communication with research and engineering stakeholders.
- Acting as a working supervisor: actively moderating sessions while overseeing throughput, quality, and team coordination across shifts.
- Prior experience leading or coordinating field research, usability, or human‑factors studies.
- Background in human factors, ergonomics, or applied research operations.
- Comfort interfacing directly with cross‑functional engineering and research partners.
Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to direct small on‑site teams in fast‑paced, evolving study environments.
- Sound judgment under ambiguity: able to make trade‑off decisions on session flow, participant handling, and equipment issues without waiting for off‑site direction.
- Calm, professional presence with participants and stakeholders; sets the tone for the moderator team.
- Adaptable to shifting priorities, last‑minute protocol changes, and dynamic daily schedules.
Contract position based out of Glendale, CA.
Pay Range$40.00 per hour.
