Description

The Biomedical Field Service Technician I is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and support of assigned medical equipment across multiple client healthcare facilities. This role requires daily driving to various customer sites, often multiple locations per day, and includes a monthly automobile stipend to support travel-related expenses.

Requirements
Core Responsibilities

To perform this role successfully, the individual must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas. Additional duties may be assigned based on business needs.

  • Full understanding of medical equipment, human anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and repair techniques for equipment repairs.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance on medium-risk equipment and select high-risk medical devices.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical data including schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, charts, mathematical expressions, and formulas.
  • Ability to learn equipment maintenance and repair procedures from training materials, courses, and manufacturer service literature.
  • Fundamental knowledge of electronics including analog, digital, microprocessor theory, pneumatics, hydraulics, optics, electro-mechanics, physics, basic networking, and chemistry.
  • Knowledge of standard test equipment such as multimeters, electrical safety analyzers, patient simulators, oscilloscopes, manometers, tachometers, etc.
  • Skilled in the use of tools and test equipment required for job duties.
  • Adherence to confidentiality requirements and safeguarding of protected health information (PHI).
  • Competent in using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for documentation.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements pertaining to medical equipment management.
  • Ability and willingness to drive daily to multiple client sites; reliable transportation is required.
  • Compliance with enBio’s monthly automobile stipend program for field-based travel.

Education & Experience
  • Associate’s degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or related field and/or BMET Certification preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience in medical equipment service preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Technical Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of biomedical instrumentation, electronic theory, and diagnostic tools.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating medical devices.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards (EOC, Joint Commission, NFPA) and compliance protocols.
  • IT literacy including CMMS platforms, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks associated with equipment service.
  • Daily travel required; must maintain a valid driver’s license and dependable vehicle.
  • Eligible for monthly automobile stipend to support field travel.
