Police Services Officer Trainee

job description: this non-sworn trainee classification works under close supervision participating in training work leading to progressively responsible tasks in several areas of the police department, including, but not limited to parking/traffic enforcement and investigative services.

this position reports to police services supervisors or other police supervisors or managers, depending on assignment.

an equivalent combination of experience and education sufficient to perform the essential job functions and provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

high school diploma or equivalent is required.

experience working in a public safety agency is desirable.

valid class c california driver’s license is required.

a comprehensive background investigation will be conducted on all finalists, which will review and verify personal history including, but not limited to financial responsibility, criminal history, drug use history, driving record, and verification of application materials. Significant issues or omissions in the above-stated areas may be grounds for disqualification. Background investigations will include livescan fingerprinting and a polygraph.
