Elevator Maintenance Mechanic

The University of Southern California (USC) Department of Facilities Planning & Management (FPM) is seeking an Elevator Maintenance Mechanic to join its team.

Work You Will Do
  • Perform standard elevator procedures and monitor and maintain elevators on the university campus.
  • Respond to emergencies and assist trapped passengers.
  • Determine materials required for maintenance or remodeling and initiate purchase requests.
  • Prepare maintenance reports and records.
  • Train other journeymen on specific skills and tasks.
  • Initiate work orders for elevator maintenance repairs.

The hourly rate range for this position is $47.84-$56.73.

Job Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with motion controls.
  • Experience working with GAL door equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience in the maintenance and repair of cable and hydraulic elevators.
  • Knowledge of city and state building codes and elevator codes.
  • Familiarity with major elevator manufacturers and equipment.
  • Knowledge of all elevator mechanical functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated communication skills.
  • Most possess a valid/current City of Los Angeles Department of Building Services elevator mechanic Journey level license and state of CA Certified Competent Conveyance Mechanic (CCCM) General Certification.
  • Currently hold a valid California driver's license for a minimum of two years.
