Software Engineer, Software Testing
Overview
Designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements software programming applications. Supports and/or installs software applications/operating systems. Participates in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software. Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area and 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. May report directly to a project lead or manager. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering or related discipline
- 8 or more years of experience in software and hardware development processes and methodologies
- Due to government restrictions, must be a U.S. citizen (no dual citizen ships) or lawful permanent resident
- Masters of Science degree in Engineering or related discipline
- Aerospace experience
- Project management skills
- Experience working within a defined software process
- Working knowledge of automated test equipment (ATE)
- Working knowledge of general purpose test equipment
- Experience with hardware/software integration
- Understanding of computer scripting languages
- Capable of working in a lab or production environment
- Capable of working with cross-functional disciplines (hardware, software, systems) in a team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project)
- Experience with creating technical documents such as detail design documents and version description documents is required (experience with government/military documentation is a plus)
- Experience working with Emerging Markets is a plus
- Object Oriented Design, Visual Studio and .NET programming skills with Windows API knowledge is a plus
- Experience in Test Stand, Lab Windows CVI, LabVIEW, and C programming languages is a plus
- Familiarity with communications busses such as Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553, IEEE-1394 (Fire Wire), RS-232, RS-422/485, and IEEE-488 (GPIB) is a plus
- Experience with software versioning control software and techniques is a plus
- Experience generating and writing supporting documents such as test system software requirements, user manuals, software validation documents is a plus
- System engineering skills/training is a plus
- Experience working on Control Moment Gyroscope test software is a plus use of echarge for timekeeping.
