Job Title: Manager on Duty (Evening Shift)
Location: YMCA of Glendale
Schedule: Part-Time | 5:00 PM – 10:30 PM
Reports To: Executive Director / Operations Director
Position SummaryThe Manager on Duty (MOD) is responsible for overseeing all evening operations of the Glendale YMCA facility from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. This role ensures a safe, welcoming, and well-managed environment for members, guests, and staff. The MOD serves as the on-site leader, handling member concerns, supporting staff, enforcing policies, and responding to emergencies as needed.
Key Responsibilities Facility & Operations Management- Oversee all evening facility operations, including fitness areas, studios, pool (if applicable), and common spaces.
- Ensure the building is clean, secure, and operating efficiently.
- Conduct routine walk-throughs of the facility to maintain safety and service standards.
- Assist with closing procedures, including securing the facility at the end of the shift.
- Serve as the direct point of contact for evening staff.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to front desk, fitness, and program staff.
- Address staff concerns and ensure adherence to YMCA policies and procedures.
- Document incidents and communicate updates to senior leadership as needed.
- Greet members and foster a positive, welcoming environment.
- Address member concerns, complaints, or conflicts promptly and professionally.
- Promote YMCA programs, services, and membership opportunities.
- Ensure exceptional customer service standards are upheld.
- Respond to emergencies and incidents in accordance with YMCA protocols.
- Complete incident/accident reports accurately and timely.
- Ensure safety policies are enforced, including supervision of youth and facility usage guidelines.
- Maintain current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications (required).
- Minimum 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience (fitness, recreation, hospitality, or similar environment preferred).
- Strong conflict resolution and customer service skills.
- Ability to remain calm and decisive in emergency situations.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
Hourly rate:
Based on experience.
Complimentary YMCA membership (if applicable).
