Position: Writing Center Tutor – Korean Global Campus (Part-Time)

Reports To: Writing Center Coordinator

Location: Hybrid

Pay: $16.43-$19.94

General Statement of Job Function

The Writing Center Tutor for the KGC facilitates the growth of individual student writers, fosters strong academic writing practices, and provides individualized, supplementary assistance to all KGC students who request help with writing.

This is a part time position with approximately 10-15 hours a week.

Essential Functions
  • Provide editing assistance for Master’s and Doctoral level writing assignments as assigned.
  • Provide direct tutorial support for Master’s and Doctoral students as requested.
  • Translate support documentation and resources as requested.
  • Provide monthly reports of papers edited to the Writing Center Coordinator.
Education/Training
  • Applicants must have experience in writing, editing, and tutoring.
  • Familiarity with the Denver Seminary curriculum.
Qualifications
  • Committed personal relationship with Jesus Christ required and a lifestyle consistent with the Seminary’s Community Values and Behavioral Commitments
  • Agreement with Denver Seminary’s statement of faith
  • Fluently bilingual in Korean and English
  • Basic knowledge of tutoring styles and techniques
  • Excellent writing skills, and high proficiency in grammar and editing are necessary
  • Intermediate knowledge in the following areas:
    • Tutoring styles and techniques
    • Korean student writing needs
    • Turabian and citation styles
    • Grammar and Punctuation Rules
    • Thesis and paper organization

Outcomes
  • Assisting KGC students to accomplish their goals for academic writing.
  • The Writing Center will contribute to the retention and completion of programs for Denver Seminary KGC students by efficiently and appropriately resourcing the writing needs of those students.
Typical Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Normal office working conditions including computer usage may require occasional standing, walking, long periods of sitting, climb stairs, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
