We are pleased to share that the CDOC has collaborated with Fading West Development LLC (FWD) to assist our employees with housing in the Buena Vista Area. They are located in the Farm neighborhood near shopping, restaurants, a fitness center and work.

Description of Job
The Correctional Officer II is accountable for providing lead work/limited supervision responsibilities. Work may include assignment to a single or multiple person control center, mail room, meal hall, or meal cart movement, canteen, visitation center, medical facility, housing/living unit etc. Where employees must coordinate the activities of others in regulating inmates, civilians, property, security, custody and control functions.
Position maintains the safety and security of the general public, staff and inmates; duties include, but are not limited to:
- Providing lead work guidance and training to assigned positions;
- Recommending assignments for correctional officers;
- Providing input into performance plans;
- Promoting and maintaining a safe and secure environment through conscientious observation, clear communication, adherence to agency Administrative Regulations, facility Implementation Adjustments and the Code of Penal Discipline;
- Enforcing statutes, regulations, orders, directives, and procedures;
- Managing inmates' behavior and encouraging personal accountability through effective and professional communication;
- Monitoring and controlling access to the facility and restricted areas;
- Training and guiding assigned staff on applying the proper use of controlled items, keys, tools, equipment and chemicals;
- Enforcing security procedures by conducting work‑site searches, inmate counts, controlling unauthorized contraband, strip searches, cell searches, pat searches, and transportation;
- Responding to emergency situations such as fights, fires and escapes according to CDOC policy and preparing and submitting required reports;
- May be required to seize, hold, control, and/or otherwise subdue violent, assaulting, or physically threatening persons which requires body strength and agility of all four limbs.
Positions are subject to working additional hours and/or shifts to maintain safety and security.
Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or a GED certificate, and two (2) years of
* corrections related experience, law enforcement patrol experience, or military experience.

Corrections related experience is defined as experience in which the employee provided a direct service to/with inmates such as correctional officer, teaching, social work, nursing, food service, general maintenance; or worked directly with inmate in the implementation of a program such as Correctional Industries. Corrections related experience is not typically earned through clerical support positions.
Corrections, law enforcement, or military experience is not typically earned through clerical support and/or private security positions.
