Children's Program Pro Bono Coordinating Attorney, Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network

Position:

The Pro Bono Coordinating Attorney plays a critical role connecting children
and families who need representation with pro bono attorneys, as well as developing
relationships with pro bono partners and providing training and mentoring for volunteer
attorneys.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with law firms, corporate legal departments, and legal organizations throughout the state, region, and country. Actively recruiting attorneys to serve through outreach.
  • Coordinating and delivering trainings for attorneys, responding promptly to attorney questions, and providing advice and support as needed.
  • Reviewing and preparing new cases for pro bono placement, identifying available attorneys, referring clients to pro bono attorneys, and regular follow-up to ensure the placement is successful.
  • Regularly connecting with pro bono attorneys to thank them for their contributions, and assisting with occasional volunteer appreciation events.

Qualifications:

  • An attorney with immigration law experience, ideally with unaccompanied children, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, asylum and/or removal defense who is looking to take a step back from direct representation, An attorney with family law or juvenile law experience, who might be looking for a meaningful way to use their skills and expertise or A law firm pro bono coordinator who is looking to shift to the nonprofit sector.
  • Admission to any state bar, preferably Colorado
  • Demonstrated cultural competency
  • Spanish speaking skills preferred but not required
  • Proof of vaccination against COVID-19 required, or a request for reasonable
    accommodation prior to commencing employment with RMIAN.
