Position: Assets Protection Specialist - Glendale, CO

Pay & Benefits

The starting hourly pay is $24.25–$26.25, with a full range of $24.25–$41.25. Pay depends on market, experience, education, and certifications. About Assets Protection

The Assets Protection (AP) team safeguards guests, team members, and the brand by preventing theft, fraud, and shortages, protecting sales, and building relationships with store leaders and public safety officials.

Position Overview

As an Assets Protection Specialist, you will use surveillance and intelligence to keep guests and team members safe while preventing loss and supporting store sales.

Core Responsibilities
  • Use surveillance and intelligence-led tactics to protect team members and guests while reducing shortages.
  • Monitor guests with Target’s video surveillance system to identify potential theft risks.
  • Implement AP practices and routines to reduce and prevent shortage.
  • Document cases properly and effectively.
  • Identify strategic resolutions of external theft and fraud, including apprehension.
Typical Day Responsibilities
  • Deliver an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience: greet guests, smile, and initiate warm interactions.
  • Help guests find what they need, resolve issues, and ensure a smooth shopping experience.
  • End each transaction with a sincere thank you.
  • Support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
  • Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an inspiring guest experience.
  • Support total store sales and guest service by ensuring products are in stock and available through theft prevention.
  • Resolve theft with good judgment, conduct apprehensions in shortage focus areas, and strictly adhere to AP policies.
  • Identify theft trends by leveraging technology, reporting, and surveillance tactics.
  • Prevent theft by gathering intelligence and communicating important issues.
  • Use video systems to monitor theft activity.
  • Respond to security incidents and submit appropriate documentation following AP policy.
  • Promote a physical security and safety culture by creating awareness and training safe and secure standards.
  • Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches, being authentic, and creating equitable experiences.
  • Work safely at all times; comply with all safety policies, report hazards, and correct where possible.
  • Maintain positive relationships with public safety officials and law enforcement.
  • Participate in legal proceedings to represent Target’s interests.
  • Perform all other duties based on business needs.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Meet any state or local licensure and other legal requirements related to the position.
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and teammates.
  • Ability to communicate via multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Work both independently and with a team.
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
  • Remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment while accomplishing multiple tasks within established time frames.
Additional Expectations
  • Climb up and down ladders.
  • Apprehend subjects in accordance with company policy.
  • Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting up to 40 pounds without assistance.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times.
  • Operate in varying temperatures, humidity, and environmental conditions.
  • Remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.
