In This Role, You Will

Empower students to discover their potential and pursue excellence—academically, personally, and spiritually—through high‑quality teaching and authentic care. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional collaborator and team player, with deep Spanish language knowledge, strong proficiency, and a commitment to fostering cultural understanding and effective language acquisition across grade levels. They will demonstrate a passion for urban education, strategies to promote metacognitive engagement, and a willingness to go the extra mile for students.

Candidates should be organized, detail oriented, and show expertise in developing lesson plans.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate, standards‑aligned Spanish instruction for K4–6th and 9th grade students, using high‑quality materials, best practices, and a balanced approach to speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
  • Foster language acquisition, cultural understanding, and communication skills through engaging, interactive, and immersive lessons that promote authentic use of Spanish.
  • Differentiated instruction to meet diverse learner needs, providing whole‑group, small‑group, and individualized support while using standards and student data to guide planning.
  • Monitor, assess, and document student learning through formative and summative assessments, using results to inform instructional decisions and support improved outcomes.
  • Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and administrators to align instruction, participate in school‑wide initiatives, and contribute to cultural events that highlight Spanish language and Hispanic cultures.
  • Seek opportunities to integrate Biblical truth and faith‑based values into daily lessons, maintain a safe, organized, and nurturing classroom environment, and manage behavior consistently to promote courage, respect, integrity, and perseverance.
  • Serve as a cultural and spiritual model, interacting respectfully and demonstrating God’s love to students and families.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress, behavior, and needs; maintain confidentiality and ethical behavior at all times.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, be open to coaching and feedback, and collaborate as a team player to support student learning.
  • Monitor and support students during morning arrival, lunch, recess, and dismissal; provide flexible support across K–8 and high school campuses as needed.

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred). State teaching license preferred but not required.

  • Knowledge/

    Skills:
    • Proficiency in Spanish, with strong communication and instructional skills.
    • Experience teaching Spanish to multiple age groups, from early childhood through high school.
    • Knowledge of age‑appropriate language acquisition strategies and cultural instruction.
  • Demonstrated integrity and ability to live the values, beliefs, and culture of St. Augustine Prep.
