High Needs Intensive Special Education Paraprofessional
Dawson County High School is seeking a dependable and student-focused High Needs Intensive Special Education Paraprofessional to support teachers and students in the classroom. This role includes supporting students with a range of academic and behavioral needs, including providing guidance, structure, and support during challenging moments. What You'll Do:
- Assist teachers with preparing and delivering instructional materials and activities
- Support implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) under teacher direction
- Provide intensive instructional, behavioral, and safety support for a student whose Individualized Education Program (IEP), Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), health plan, or unique educational needs require dedicated adult assistance.
- Support students with diverse learning and behavioral needs under the direction of certified staff
- Assist with behavior support strategies and help maintain a safe, structured environment
- Distribute and organize classroom supplies and instructional resources
- Maintain records and assist with grading and reports
- Help keep the classroom neat, organized, and engaging
- Monitor and report any student safety concerns
- Associate degree, 2+ years of college, or passing a District-approved assessment
- Ability to work with students with diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs
- Basic record-keeping and organizational skills
- Understanding of instructional support practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team
- Patient, positive, and supportive attitude with students with disabilities
- Ability to manage time, multitask, and handle stressful situations
- Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
This position works closely with the educational team to support student learning, safety, and participation throughout the school day.
