Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supports designs for line setup, staking specifications, and fiber, cable, and line extensions. Aids in maintaining records.
- Preliminary field data collection and construction observation
- Work/observe in the hands‑on aspects of the technical field construction
- Under direct supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, measuring, and analyzing numerical and graphical data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, geotechnical data, maps, subsurface utility information, structural concepts, schematics, technical drawings, and other matrices to support engineering activities.
- Assist with performing basic professional engineering tech work relating to conducting observations and evaluation of proposed and existing field/site conditions to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, construction plans, or operating permits.
- Performs routine engineering tech functions and provides entry-level technical assistance on various design requirements and engineering activities to account for quality control and the safety and functionality of end‑users, systems, and infrastructure.
- Assist with verifying the characteristics of a site and providing basic technical assistance on various environmental, design, materials, contractor, and construction observations and issues.
- Assist with verifying basic calculations, design, change orders, compliance with contract plans and specifications, and escalating any work site issues or technical problems for appropriate resolution.
- Work with cross‑functional teams in executing project work.
- Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation and records using electronic systems, drawings, computations, software, and daily field/work site notebook/logs.
- Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, location data, statistical documentation, engineering studies and surveys, and construction.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and adhere to professional conduct and KLJ's policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- High School Diploma.
- Knowledge of utilizing Esri products, Field Maps, Quick Capture, AGOL, Arc Pro
- General awareness of engineering technician support principles, practices, process, methods and techniques.
- General awareness of relevant codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record‑keeping requirements.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non‑technical audience.
- Effective self‑leadership with attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies.
- Ability to work independently under supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project‑specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical work week.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements.
