- Have, or be able to obtain prior to hiring, a valid Montana Drivers License
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Good moral character
- Ability to pass a thorough background investigation
- Ability to meet Montana POST physical standards
- Must pass Montana POST written test
- No convictions of a crime which could have resulted in imprisonment in a federal or state penitentiary
- Eligible to possess and train with a firearm
- Montana Post Certification is not required, although preference will be given to those applicants who possess a Post Certification
- Must be a U.S. citizen.

Full-time position, working 12-hour shifts. Days, nights, weekends and holidays.
Starting salary is $4,601.00 per month, with an additional $2.40 per hour differential pay for night shift. Incentives are available for Associates, Bachelor's and Master's degrees. $2.00 per hour incentive for Officers who are Field Training Officers and are in the process of training officers. Take home department vehicle. Benefits include vacation, comp and sick leave, holiday pay, MPORS 20-year retirement, and part paid health insurance.
All uniforms and equipment are provided.
