Responsibilities:
- Lead month-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all financial activities.
- Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining detailed records for general ledger accounts.
- Conduct account and bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Analyze and report on balance sheet accounts, providing insights for monthly reconciliations.
- Manage grant accounting processes, including compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Oversee payroll tax reporting, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws.
- Develop and administer budgets, including forecasting and allocation of resources.
- Monitor and evaluate fund accounting activities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with departments and partner districts to ensure financial consistency and accuracy.
- Utilize accounting software and databases to streamline operations and improve efficiency. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
- At least five years of accounting experience with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail, preferably within a California school district office or Non-Profit setting
- Proficiency in computerized accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong knowledge of governmental accounting principles and auditing practices.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local grant reporting and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a business office setting within the education sector.
- Ability to interpret and apply accounting policies, procedures, and regulations effectively.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills with attention to detail.
