Construction Site Superintendent

This role oversees day-to-day field operations for diverse commercial and industrial construction projects in the Capital Region. The Site Superintendent coordinates subcontractors, ensures high-quality workmanship, maintains project schedules, and serves as the primary on-site leader and point of contact. The position requires a strong understanding of skilled trades, a hands-on approach to subcontractor management, and a consistent focus on safety, documentation, and effective communication with the project team and clients.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily field operations on active construction sites, ensuring work progresses safely, efficiently, and according to project plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors on site, including scheduling their activities, clarifying expectations, and ensuring they have the resources and information needed to complete their work.
  • Maintain a strong on-site presence whenever subcontractors are working, actively monitoring progress, resolving issues, and keeping the project on track.
  • Oversee quality control by reviewing work in place, determining whether it meets project standards, and directing corrections or changes as needed.
  • Create, maintain, and update short-term schedules, including 3–4 week look-ahead schedules, to align field activities with overall project milestones.
  • Run and facilitate on-site project meetings with subcontractors, internal project teams, and other stakeholders to communicate priorities, resolve conflicts, and maintain alignment.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and assistant project managers, providing timely updates on progress, issues, risks, and resource needs.
  • Prepare and complete daily reports using Procore, documenting work performed, manpower levels, safety observations, site conditions, and any significant events or delays.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and OSHA standards, promoting a strong safety culture and addressing unsafe behaviors or conditions immediately.
  • Act as the on-site representative for the general contractor, serving as the primary point of contact for subcontractors, clients, and inspectors.
  • Work collaboratively with skilled trades, including carpentry and masonry, to sequence work effectively and resolve technical or constructability challenges.
  • Support and participate in design-build processes as needed by coordinating field activities with design intent and clarifications.
  • Hold subcontractors accountable for performance, deadlines, and quality, taking a hands-on approach to problem-solving rather than relying on minimal oversight.
  • Assist in managing general construction activities on multi-family, hospitality, manufacturing, and other commercial projects, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Use basic computer skills to manage documentation, schedules, and communication through Procore and other tools.
  • Support weekend or early-morning work when required, coordinating with project managers and assistant project managers to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Contribute to a positive project culture by demonstrating leadership, clear communication, and a focus on delivering quality projects on time.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of construction experience, preferably in commercial and industrial projects.
  • Demonstrated experience as a superintendent or in a similar field leadership role on commercial construction projects.
  • Strong experience in commercial construction, including multi-family, hospitality, manufacturing, and other heavy commercial work.
  • Proficiency with Procore for daily reporting, documentation, and project coordination (Procore experience is required).
  • Proven ability to coordinate and manage subcontractors, including scheduling, oversight, and performance management.
  • Strong understanding of skilled trades such as carpentry, masonry, and general construction, and how they interact on a project.
  • Experience working with general contractors on commercial construction projects.
  • Ability to develop and maintain 3–4 week look-ahead schedules and align field activities with project milestones.
  • Strong communication skills with internal teams, subcontractors, and…
