Position: Teaching Assistant - Continuous Recruitment

Teaching Assistants (Per Glens Falls Support Staff Association) (Teaching Assistant Level
1)

Glens Falls City School District has anticipated openings in the Teaching Assistant area. Responsibilities include working with individual students or groups of students on instructional activities and tasks, and related work as required. This is a 6.5-hour-per-day, 10-month position during the school year.

General Responsibilities:

The responsibility of the Teaching Assistant to provide a structured learning experience and atmosphere in the classrooms assigned. Teaching Assistants will be expected to cover in the teacher's absence and provide structured learning experience. Specific duties include: assisting with activities, supervising the children, maintaining the classroom and other areas, assisting in developing good health standards and appropriate social habits, and filling in for other staff as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma and New York State Teacher Assistant Certification, required.

Personal Qualities:
Capacity to manage multiple responsibilities and competing demands. Demonstrated ability to work in a calm and respectful manner. Maintain a positive, encouraging attitude to motivate others. Candidate must enjoy working with children.
